Description: Photographs of World War I, Belgium and France, taken ca 1917-1918 and compiled into an album by Len Harries. Most of the photographs have been captioned by Harries but the donor has written additional captions to identify Harries in some of the photographs. Includes photographs of groups of soldiers, damaged buildings and tanks (including Cloth Hall in Ypres), craters, local women and children, aircraft, soldiers in a trench, stretcher bearing. The photographs of France show Ambleteuse and Selles Source of title - Title supplied by Library Quantity: 1 album(s). Physical Description: Photograph album, 15.2 x 20.7 cm Provenance: Len Harries was a cousin of the donor's father and Harries met the donor's mother, Gwendoline Ryall (later Randell), while on leave in England. He left the album with her when he returned to New Zealand.

Description: Shows a plump man (the same figure as used in B-158-011), labelled a "voracious person", who has consumed "some cakes, some tea, some buns, some scones, some sandwiches, some biscuits, some more cakes, some more tea, etc, etc". He is seated beside a table set with crockery and jugs. Quantity: 1 drawing(s). Physical Description: Ink on card (with collaged corrections), 428 x 390 mm. Provenance: Donated by Ms Honiana Love, in 2000. Donor is a great-great niece of the artist. Her grandmother (Carol Holland nee Booth) was the artist's niece.

Description: Photograph number eighteen in manuscript. 'This is up forward in the Ypres Salient, counter battery work. You will note the gunners along the roadside till the bombardment is over, then they go back and retaliate. Sometimes their guns have gone, like the one you see with the H.E. The two men you see in the foreground are Sgt. Dent and Jimmy Fettis - they are waiting for a stampede to take the corner. Transport horses are trained, they know they have to break down from a gallop to turn the corner. That's where the boys step in, two of us are standing by the camera, on another corner, in case Dent misses. Note the eighteen pounder shell cases to be added to the pile you see in the Dump photo. Description: Photograph number thirty-two in manuscript. `This is an interesting photo - on the right is a mule team man using the main road, on his own. The horse carries six 18lb shells - he dumps them anywhere and goes back, keeping under shell fire. He broke away from his team; he would have been shot, but he was caught by the M.P's under shell fire. The post is Milcot, you will note our wire running down to the rear. The dugout is an old German O.P. The corner is the road running down to the Butts. The timber was dumped at 2 a.m., the Sgt. who did it would be demoted. Note our man up watching both roads.'
