Description: Carte de viste and cabinet card portraits relating to the maternal family of Lindsay Shelton, the Stevens and McNaughton families. Taken between circa 1860s and 1900 by a range of photographers. Most persons are unidentified. Six images are inscribed on reverse. -The three carte de viste portraits show: four children and is inscribed 'Captain J Howell's family (grandfather's half-brother)'; an image of a bearded man is inscribed 'Grandpa McNaughton?', and and image of a young woman is inscribed 'Mrs Hamilton, Inspec. National Bank'. -Cabinet card portraits show a range of unidentified men, women and children of various ages. One image of a girl is inscribed 'Ina Shaw' and 'Flora McNaughton from K Shaw'. An image of a soldier is inscribed 'From Arthur J Withers, 1st NZ Contingent Palmerston North 5/7/1901'. An image of a man with a moustache is inscribed 'William Shelton?".
