Description: Two naval seaplanes parked on the deck of HMS Ark Royal. Photographed by an unknown photographer in 1915 Inscriptions: Verso - Short 136. Wight 172.; Taken on board the aerodrome ship whilst at Lemnos. HTB. The seaplanes are Wight Type A 1 Improved Navyplane, No 172 (left), and Short Type 135, No 136 (right). They are on the deck of the British Navy's first aircraft carrier, HMS Ark Royal, which at the time was at Lemnos.
