Discusses the difficulties of studying long term extramurally and eventually taking the Public Service draughting exam. Describes projects worked on including the Waikeria Prison Farm, Paremoremo and Ruakura. Talks about work throughout the country beautifying before the Royal Tour in 1953-1954. Recalls marrying Peter Penfold, having her first child in 1962 and doing some work from home for Errol Care-Cottrell and Dick Mercer. Describes returning to the work force doing mainly domestic architecture for Errol Care-Cottrell before working for the Ministry of Housing. Mentions restructuring in 1984, working for the Ministry of Works on University of Waikato projects and restructuring at the Ministry of Works. Discusses Ministry of Works District Architect Andy Anderson, his encouragement of staff and involvement in the Operatic Society. Comments on the boom time for architecture after World War II.
