Description: Documents, correspondence, newspaper clippings and ephemera related to the Tole and Clarkson families from 1870s to 1880s, and 1938 through to circa 2013. Primarily includes material about the life and work of Charles and John Tole, uncles of Jeny Curnow, and her father the architect George Tole. Also material related to a Clarkson family reunion in 2002, including family trees and photographs. Taken from original enclosure. Arrangement: Originally housed in a file box labelled “Toles + Clarkson | George Tole | Charles Tole” and “AC 9d". The file box contained several manila folders. It arrived at the Library in a transit box along with several photo albums and other photographs housed in manila envelopes. Quantity: 9 folder(s). Provenance: This material was collected and created by Jeny Curnow until her death in 2013. In the possession of her step-sons Tim and Wystan Curnow after that time. Processing information: Material was rehoused from manila folders into archival folders for storage and preservation reasons. Photocopies of annotations on the original folders were kept with the material. The original folders were not kept.

Description: Letters, aerograms, telegrams, cards and thank you notes primarily from friends and family from within New Zealand and overseas, dating from 1936 to 1966. Includes correspondence from: Tole’s mother Janet Osborne, and David Osborne; Tole's father George Tole and uncle Charles Tole; and from members of the Clarkson family. Most are addressed to Jenifer Tole and date in the 1950s. Includes letters from Tole’s first fiancé Bill (William) Hoare from 1952 to 1953. Some later letters are addressed to Jenifer Curnow. Includes religious mementoes from Tole’s childhood, her exam results from school and university, and condolence cards on the death of relatives. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: The letters were originally bundled in rubber bands, and many were inside original envelopes. Delivered to the Library in a transit box with several diaries and an address book. Quantity: 15 folder(s). Provenance: This material was collected and created by Jeny Curnow until her death in 2013. In the possession of her step-sons Tim and Wystan Curnow after that time. Processing information: The letters were removed from rubber bands, and any correspondence enclosed in an envelope was removed and opened out, for conservation and storage reasons. Pages of correspondence and envelopes are kept together by folded archival paper. Handwritten notes describing the bundles were kept alongside.

Includes one address book dated 1974. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Delivered to the Library wrapped in bubble wrap, in a transit box with bundles of letters. Quantity: 10 volume(s). Provenance: This material was collected and created by Jeny Curnow until her death in 2013. In the possession of her step-sons Tim and Wystan Curnow after that time. Processing information: The diaries were removed from the bubble wrap. All diaries housed individually in 4-flap folders made from manilla card, then housed together in a custom archival clamshell.
