Taviuni (Ship : 1890-1931)

Passenger and cargo vessel of of 1465 grt. Used by the Union Steam Ship Company on the Pacific Islands trade. Laid up in Sydney in 1921, hulked in 1924 and sunk in 1931. Took an expedition of scientists (under Captain G H Lacy) to view a solar eclipse from Flint Island, leaving Auckland 12 Dec. 1907, arriving at Flint Island 23 Dec. 1907, arriving back in Auckland 18 Jan. 1908.

Description: Booklet describing the Tait circulator, with illustrations. There are photographs of some ships that were fitted with the circulator: the "Maori" (Union Steam Ship Company), S.S. "Mokoia", salvage steamer "Dunedin", harbour steamer "Waikana" and the SS "Taviuni". The Dunedin Hospital and the Otago Harbour Board dredge 222 also used these circulators. Quantity: 1 booklet.
