Description: Ball programme with an ornate cover showing the flags of the Taranaki Volunteers and the Taranaki Militia (both featuring an image of Mt Taranaki). Between them is a portrait of Queen Victoria, and below are two rifles, crossed. The back cover shows an decorative border of poppies. In side is a list of 22 dances with a space beside each for the names of partners. A cord is looped through holes at the bottom but the original pencil was missing on arrival at the Library. Description: Album of military portraits, group portraits, cartes de visite, and watercolours showing incidents and persons relating to the Parihaka incident and events of the same period. The watercolours have been made on the pages that mat the photographs, as well as on full pages of their own. The loose title page shows the monogram "A.C. Zealandia" topped with the initials HH (ie Henry Hobson, the artist). Watercolours show the camp at Pungarehu, the redoubt at Opunake, members of the Armed Constabulary Field Force, members of the Colonial Rifle Volunteers, Maoris "old & new style", the Armed Constabulary camp at Rahotu, Mount Egmont, Maori guard room and sentry box opposite Armed Constabulary lines at Pungarehu, members of the Taranaki Mounted Rifles on horseback, Hiroki with his guard, Tohu, Te Whiti, Maori going to Te Whiti's meeting at Parihaka, a view of Parihaka, Opunake Redoubt, Miss Dobie's tomb at Opunake (Mary Dobie, 1853?-1880). Some photographs have been removed. Those still in the album include views of Parihaka; a group portrait of the Government House guard on 5 June 1881 (includes H Hobson and three others); Troopers Coffey, Collett and Kelso in 1881 (on page with Maori waka); photograph inscribed on verso by William Rowett [White?]; group portrait of Jack Myles, Harry Forshaw and G C (Paddy) Mossop in July 1880; Trooper P Coffey in August 1881 (on page showing Maori guard room); C.G.S.S.
