Bealey, Samuel, 1821-1909

Became interested in the Canterbury project and with his brother, John, purchased Haldon in 1852; took an active role in public affairs on the Canterbury Provincial Council. Returned to England in 1867 paying only occasional visits to New Zealand (Scholefield, DNZB, v1).
