New Zealand feminist writer and playwright born Renée Gertrude Jones in Napier. Known professionally as Renée. Of Ngāti Kahungunu, Irish, English, and Scottish ancestry. Works include 'Setting the Table' (1981), 'Wednesday to Come' (1984), and 'Pass It On' (1986). 1989 Robert Burns Fellow at the University of Otago in Dunedin.
