Description: Cameron writes of his family's background, their arrival in New Zealand, but his main aim is to describe his family's participation in World War One and World War Two; he has chapters on the young defenders, covering his call up in 1941 with his friend, Colin Papps, joining the 1st Battalion Canterbury Regiment and then going to Trentham army school. Cameron then looks back at Gallipoli, telling to story of his father, Alfred Edward Cameron. He next records his brother's experiences as a signalman, Ronald Edward George Cameron, and as a prisoner of war following the battle at Ruweisat Ridge; he writes of the liberation of northern Italy, the ending of World War Two, the occupation of Japan, and ends with general reflections on the family's history. Description: Album of views in Egypt and Gallipoli during World War I, compiled by Alfred Edward Cameron (1894-1967, and negative showing Vauxhall car, ca 1940s.) Cameron sailed from New Zealand to Egypt with the Main Body of the NZEF in Oct 1914 and served as a trumpeter with the Canterbury Mounted Rifles.
