Ngati Maniapoto. Interpreter, native agent, assessor, politician. Born probably in 1855 or 1856. Son of Hone Eketone and Hera Mahina. Occasionally used the English form of his name, Fairburn Eggleston (Eccleston). See Dictionary of New Zealand Biography (Vol. 3, 1901-1920, p. 147-149, E3)
