Description: Album opens with photographs of a parade through Wellington of women's service units either during or soon after the end of the war. Three women on a low stand take the salute and one photograph shows confetti showering down on the marchers. There are two groups of photographs which relate to Governors General's wives. Both involve events around first aid demonstrations viewed in one case by Lady Freyberg and other ladies in evening gowns, and in the other case by Lady Norrie in much the same circumstances. Two photographs record a formal St John Ambulance event in Wellington Town Hall. It involves men in dark copes presenting decorations to women in evening dresses. A third photograph shows a line up of St John Ambulance members in the central space of the Centennial Exhibition buildings at Rongotai, possibly in the 1939-1940 period of the exhibition, or soon after before any of the buildings were dismantled. The last group of photographs show Clarence Meachem attending a St John Ambulance event somewhere in South East Asia, or possibly the Phillipines. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s).

Refers to Miss Lewison, matron on the journey. Recalls arrival at Port Tewfik, and being sent to Helmieh, a tent hospital in the desert.
