Description: Six-panelled account of the capture and blowing up of the Boyd in Whangaroa Harbour in 1809 in retaliation for its captain's whipping of a local chief known as George These illustrations were reproduced in New Zealand newspapers during the late 1940s and 1950s. The newspapers included The Evening Post, Auckland Star, Christchurch Star Sun, Taranaki Herald, Southern Cross, Students' Digest, Greymouth Evening Star, Evening Star (Sports) Dunedin, and the Southland Daily News. Description: Transparencies (slides) relating to Michael Alexander Harvey's service during the Vietnam War of 1961-1975 taken between 1967-1968 by unidentified photographers. Slides include images of soldiers, explosions, helicopters, and landscapes which include fields, trees and mountains. They include images of soldiers firing guns, waiting for and entering helicopters, then aerial and POV shots from the helicopter. They include one of a gun pointing out from the helicopter with an aerial view of landscape below. Also includes a makeshift stage (possibly named 'Nui Dat Opera House') which has a man playing a piano accordian and another man possibly singing, with soldiers seated in the audience. The soldiers may be from the Australian Task Force. Arrangement: Slides have been kept in the same order as supplied by Harvey. Dates on the slides appear to be when they were developed. Slides were in a box entitled 'FSB Balmoral' and include images of soldiers, explosions, helicopters, soldiers' mess, soldiers' equipment and Harvey bathing. Some have captions which include 'Foo party bunker'; 'OC's tent'; 'Self + wash'; 'Self and Mac on APC'; 'Mysterious C123's (which probably refers to the Fairchild C-123 aircraft)'; 'Horrie in his pit'; 'Maj Hans + AK47'; 'Equipment pack etc'. Description: Transparencies (slides) relating to Michael Alexander Harvey's service during the Vietnam War of 1961-1975 taken between 1967-1968 by unidentified photographers. The slides include images of soldiers, explosions, helicopters, APCs [Armoured personnel carriers], tanks and paddy fields. In some images the soldiers are standing outside a tent with sandbags at its base, and groups of soldiers marching, riding on top of a tank and APC, also soliers with guns and with smoke after explosions. Some slides have captions which include: 'cordon'; 'Goldylocks'; 'Mac'; 'Bob Young'; 'Shrapnel on tree'; 'APC pulling tank'; 'US armoured convoy ambush' and 'Martin Steeds'. The 'Goldylocks' image includes a soldier standing next to a sign which says 'Welcome to tombstone territory. Goldylocks and his 34 performing bears'. The second frame is titled 'Mr Nash away off on trip.' Walter Nash is travelling so quickly between countries that he is just a blur. The final frame is titled 'Enrolments rolling in for Percy Cerutty course.' Shows a man who is sweating after mowing the lawn with a push mower.
