Description: Photograph on the front of the postcard shows a group of eight soldiers in two rows outside their tent. On either side, four rifles are standing to make a pyramid shape with a lemon-squeezer hat balanced on the top of each "pyramid". There are other tents in the background. The handwriting on the verso indicates that the card was written in New Zealand, by J Stephens in the 13 Platoon, 35th Reserves [?]: "Dear May, I am dropping a few lines to say we are bound for Featherston tomorrow morning, hence my new address [given above]. Please send up Alice's address it might come in handy up there. We are busy packing up now. Coming out on final leave on the 19th of this month. We might get leave next weekend. Description: Postcard shows a general view of the bowling green and clubhouse at the Remuera Bowling Club, with its "RBC" flag flying from a pole on the roof. The card was sent to Miss M Stephens, care of C M Banks on Thorndon Quay, [Wellington] City. The writer, Jack, was one of a team which had lost a championship to Johnsonville 4-2 the previous Saturday. Because of the address ("City"), it appears he was writing from Wellington.
