Description: The forty-fifth (45th) annual dominion conference of the National Party was held in Wellington between 31 July and 3 August 1981. The theme of the conference was growth. The collection includes several leading addresses by cabinet ministers on aspects of growth, namely resource development, employment growth, growth of primary industries, economic growth, growth of the private sector and the social implications of growth. General discussions follow each address and a ministerial forum allows further opportunity for debate. Prime Minister Muldoon delivers his address to the Conference and defends National's position on the controversial Springbok Tour then proceeding as well as the Government's initiatives to expand the economy. Contents: Tape one - Covers afternoon sessions of the first day (opening not recorded). Includes: remits on the Aluminium Smelter and the introduction of casinos; addresses by Bill Birch on Resource development and Jim Bolger on the Growth of employment (continued on tape two).
