Description: Anderson's memoirs cover the period from 1933 to 1946 and give an in depth account of his time in the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve (6 Nov 1940-3 Jun 1946). He includes a detailed description of the ships he served on, duties undertaken and also gives a lot of information about the men he served with and what happened to them (including a mention of Denis Glover). Description: These letters were written by Anderson while he was serving in the R.N.Z.N.V.R. Some years ago he set out to record extracts from the letters and as he did this destroyed the original letters. This folder contains the extracts and precis of those destroyed letters and the beginning of the sequence of undestroyed letters. Written mainly to his family the letters cover the period 1942 and 1943. These letters were used by Anderson to form the basis of his memoirs which are held at Accession 91-301.
