Description: Five studio portraits of Flora Alexa Stevens taken by Illingworth Toska Studios, Watkinson's Studios, Tesla Studios, and M. Elizabeth Greenwood, likely between1906-1910, and 1920-1930. Illingworth Toska portrait (circa 1906) depicts Stevens standing, and wearing a sailor suit. Watkinson's Studios potrait (circa 1910) depicts Stevens seated, and in profile. She wears a white dress, and holds a white flower in her lap. Inscription on reverse reads "Wishing Mrs Hart a Merry Christmas from Lexie Stevens". Three other images are head and shoulders portraits likely taken between 1920 and 1930. They all depict Stevens wearing a black dress, and with a marcel wave hairstyle. Description: Photographs taken between 1888 and circa 1929, chiefly by James Caleb Cornwall of his family, life, and work. Identified photographers of studio portraits include George Gregory (Auckland), Berry and Company (Wellington), Illingworth Toska Studio (Wanganui), Canadian Studio (Auckland), and Bunting Studio (Palmerston North). Many photographs in the album are captioned underneath the image or on the rear of the print. - Contains images relating to Cornwall's work as a creamery manager and farmer. Photographs feature creamery buildings and machinery, the transportation of milk products by horse and cart, and creamery workers. A number of buildings have the text 'NZ Farmers Dairy Union' painted on them. Farming images feature ploughing, clearance of land, and livestock portraits of cattle and horse prepared for showing. cows, and horses. Various dogs, a pig, and chickens are also seen. - Album features images of areas where Cornwall lived and worked. Locations covered are mainly in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region and include Linton, Shannon, Mangaramarama, Pahiatua, Longburn, Konini, Oringi, Upper Hutt, and Woodville. Specific locations are the farm of R D Knight at Mangaramarama (near Pahiatua), including scenes from Knight's annual horse sale, the Gaseford [Gaisford?] family property at Oringi, the Longburn Freezing Works, Pahiatua train station. Also included are photographs of houses (one hand coloured), cottages, farm buildings, and a bush camp. - James Cornwall appears in many images and his his friends, family, and associates (including employers) are included. Archie Curry, Florence Swan, Jack Capel, Rob Roy, Leo Harding, R D Knight, Ethel Bailey, Phoebe Bailey, Lucy Bailey, Phoebe Swan, Sydney 'Sid' James Short, Fred Bliss, and Jimmy Muir are identified. Prime Minister Richard Seddon is also seen in one image. Album also contains a group portrait of suppliers to the Upper Hutt creamery and another of the Woodville Fire Brigade. Unidentified people include an ex-girlfriend of Cornwall's (a teacher), men at a bush camp, men driving milk carts, and an unidentified family group. - Futher images include the transportation of wood by horse and cart, flooding at Konini, and some images relating to trains (bridges, locomotives, and carriages). Description: Photographs related to Edward Eric Stevens, known as Eric Stevens. Chiefly connected with his military service in World War One (New Zealand service no. 3/3930) and World War Two (Australian service no.VX51904). Taken between 1913 and 1956 by a range of photographer(s), including Frank James Denton, Illingworth Toska Studios, and Antoine Kershaw. Many of the images are postcards or prints inscribed by Eric Stevens and sent to family. -Images related to his WWI service in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force (NZEF), 34th reinforcements, New Zealand Medical Corps include: 'sergeants mess' group portrait at Karori 191?, and various solo and group studio portraits taken in London and Cologne between 1918 and 1919 which include other soldiers, Eric Chisholm, Ray Donohue, W M (Billy) Barraud, Geoff H Nicolls, D J Jeune, A E Webley, W Saville-Smith, and R McCrostie. Three images show Eric Stevens and 'two Australian friends' on horses during a trip to Killarney, Ireland, August-September 1919. Includes a memorial group portrait for 'Members of the staff who fought for the Empire 1914-1919' which features Eric and other soliders in uniform. -Images related to his service in WW2 as part of the Australian forces include: Eric with his wife Ruth Stevens (one image inscribed '17th reinforcements Australian Light Horse, Epsom, Australia, 8 Nov 1939'), various images of Eric at an army camp, including Eric on horseback, Eric with other soldiers including Captain Duke, Eric in a seaside 'Greetings from the Holy Land' postcard (inscribed 'Capt EE Stevens, Guard Btn, AIF (Second Australian Imperial Force) taken in Haifa', Eric wearing a Australian army slouch hat, and Eric in New Guinea (dated 1944) shown with other soldiers, beside a jeep, and outside a hut. -Includes images of Edward Eric Stevens in civilian life.
