Patel, Ambalal Dahyabhai, 1905-1969

Prominent Indo-Fijian lawyer and politician. Born in Gujarat, Patel graduated as a barrister in London and moved to Fiji in 1928, where he set up practice. Was elected President of the Fiji Indian Congress and Indian Association in 1930. With Swami Rudrananda, was leader of the growers in the 1943 sugar strike in 1943. Member of the Legislative Council 1944-1950 and 1963-1969.
