Images include the Queen walking around the Treaty Grounds, meeting the Maori Queen Te Atairangikaahu, with kuia and kaumatua (many of whom are wearing kakahu) including [Turi Carroll?], standing in her car and waving to the crowd, outside Te Whare Runanga with Minister of Maori Affairs Ralph Hanan and James Henare, and with the Governor General Bernard Fergusson and unidentified women. Prince Philip is at the Queen's side in all these images. Also includes an image of an unidentified Maori warrior issuing the challenge during a powhiri at Te Tii Marae (with Te Tiriti o Waitangi hall in the background), and various Maori dignitaries hongiing, including Lady Ruti and Sir Eruera Tirikatene, both of whom are wearing a kiwi feather kakahu. Description: Album relating to the history of the Ratana Church, most likely compiled by James Henderson, 1918-1974. Contains scenes from the Ratana movement, some with accompanying notes. Buildings shown in photographs include the Ratana home and two halls at Ratana Pa (Piki te Kaha and Whare Marama) in 1922, a later image of the halls combined with three others as Te Manuao circa 1937, the interior of the Whare Maori museum (with faith healing articles), Te Temepara O Te Haahi Ratana (exterior and interior images), the Ratana Church at Te Hapua, an aerial image of Ratana Pa in 1846, a montage of images from Ratana circa 1939, and stacks of mail requesting healing waiting for response. Events featured are the opening of Te Omeka Pa, Matamata, in 1937, the opening of Te Manuao in 1938, and the funeral of T W Ratana in 1939. Also contains an image of a 1921 faith healing camp in Wanganui. Accompanying manuscript notes are all in the same handwriting suggesting that these all originate from the same collection. Comprised of autographs and newspaper clippings, from mostly unidentified newspapers, relating to the following individuals: - Arthur Thomas Bothamley - undated manuscript letter addressed to an Auckland autograph collector named Hoffman; two autographs on slips of paper, including one giving date of birth as 30 November 1846; three newspaper clippings, including two obituaries, dated 21 November 1936, 17 December 1938, and 19 December 1938. - Mary Manson Dreaver - two autographs dated 1941 on slips of tinted paper. These stem from the time when Dreaver had won the Waitemata seat and become a Member of Parliament, as denoted by the post-nominal "MP" in the autograph. - Walter Hellenthal - autograph on fragment of typescript letter and purple circular rubber stamp clipped from envelope featuring the seal of the German consulate in Wellington ("Deutsches Konsulat in Wellington" around emblem of eagle with swastika). Also includes a number of newspaper clippings dated 28 October 1936, 19 May 1937, 12 June 1937, and an article from 'The New Zealand Woman's Weekly' dated 20 May 1937, documenting the Hellenthal family home in Lower Hutt with photographic illustrations of both the exterior and interior.
