McNickle, William, 1867-1936

Born in Lawrence, Otago. Jointed the Post and Telegraph Department in 1885. After qualifying as a telegraph operator served as a clerk and postmaster at Palmerston, Christchurch, Dunedin, Bulls, Palmerston North and Taihape. Appointed relieving officer at Auckland and retired on superannuation in 1926. One of the founders of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association. Secretary of the Mount Eden Ratepayers' Association and active member of the Workers' Educational Association.
