Description: Album of publicity photographs including designs for advertisements for use in the new Zealand Railway Magazine; designs for posters for use in Railways Ticket Offices and one for a large neon lighting sign "Suggested `Claude Neon' Display for New Zealand Railway Publicity Department, Wellington. `Travel by train'". One photograph is entitled "`Post' corner 1880. Now site of King's Chambers". A number of images show a [Labour Day?] parade of marching people, and floats some of which are advertising NZ Railways holiday destinations, with slogans reading `Come to Rotorua', `Come to Waitomo', `Come to The Chateau Tongariro'. There are designs of title pages for the New Zealand Railways Magazine; a view of a commemorative key with a sheaf of corn on the handle in a presentation box; and designs for a programme of events surround the laying of the foundation stone for the new Government Railway Station, Wellington, N.Z. by HRH the Duke of Gloucester, December 17th 1934. These are followed by photographs taken during the Duke's tour of New Zealand, including crowd scenes in Wellington, Maori celebrations of welcome at Ngaruawahia, and scenes in the Rotorua thermal area. There are a few individual and group portraits of the management and administrative staff of New Zealand Railways, most unidentified. Description: Design for a group of three stained glass windows, showing St Jude, Jesus Christ and St Peter. St Jude holds a shepherd's crook and has a sailboat above his head, perhaps representing his widespread preaching of the gospel. Christ in the middle, is ascending to Heaven. He holds an orb, representing the world, and has the Lamb of God at his feet and the Holy Spirit above his head. St Peter on the right has crossed keys above his head, which reperesent the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. Description: Iron key. There was a house at 138 Sydney Street West, occupied by Mr John Sneddon, labourer from the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s. By the early 1970s, the house was no longer there. A Public Works building was somewhere in the vicinity. It is possible that the house was pulled down for the building of the motorway, or for the construction of a government building. Description: There are four frames which tell a story. In the first frame, Leader of the National Party, Don Brash is seen locking recalcitrant sinners into jail. Behind him is a crowd of potential sinners which includes, Prime Minister, Helen Clark, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Winston Peters, Leader of ACT, Rodney Hide and Deputy National Leader, Gerry Brownlee. In the second frame the key is thrown away, and in the third frame it is seen landing in the sea. Also in the third frame the Beehive is shown seething with the seven deadly sins while outside the high fence around the Beehive is a huge crowd of people some of whom are reaching through the fence to try to grasp the desirable things within while a voice (probably Don Brash's) shouts at them to 'Repent, you bastards'. The fourth frame which shows a later scene, shows Gollum, the 'Lord of the Rings' character whose one desire was to possess the Ring which had enslaved him. He is shown in the sea trying to retrieve the ring that Don Brash threw away. Probably refers to the Law and Order speech that Don Brash made 4th July, 2004 to the Sensible Sentencing trust.
