Te Aitanga-a-Mahaki leader, genealogist, orator. Paramount chief of Te Aitanga a Mahaki. His wife, Te Rina Turupa Ngata Te Kani Te Ua, was the eldest daughter of Sir Apirana Ngata. Married Te Rina Ngata and became son in law of Sir Apirana Ngata. Managed the Mangatu blocks in the Maori Land Development Schemes. Of Tower House, Puha, near Gisborne.
