New Zealand Meteorological Service

Established as the Meteorological Department in 1906. Name changed to Meteorological Service in 1926. Disestablished in 1992 and functions transferred to Meteorological Service of New Zealand (MetService), a newly established State Owned Enterprise. In 1968 the Service moved into a building at 30 Salamanca Road Wellington designed by William Alington and built 1967-1968.
