109 Manners Street. Completed in 1912 or 1914, the building designed by Hon William Pitt of Melbourne, and built by Frederick and Henry Sanders, building contractors. Later known as Wellington Opera House. After the building was strengthened and restored by State Insurance in 1977 it was also named the State Opera House. This building could become confused with the Wellington Opera House illustrated in the Cyclopedia of New Zealand, vol 1, p 437. It is not the same building. The illustration dates from 1897 when Vol 1 of the Cyclopedia was published.
