Scenes at the Avondale Racecourse at the New Zealand Polynesian Festival, in February 1981. All images taken at the grandstand, being close-up views of a man holding his small child (frame 1), and two women talking together, with crowds seen in the grandstand behind (frames 2 to 11). The woman on the left is wearing a painted moko kauwae (painted representation of the women's form of moko, on her chin and lips). She is also wearing a pounamu roimata (greenstone pendant in the shape of a teardrop). Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
