Description: Illuminated address presented to Duncan Sinclair on the occasion of his retirement as County Engineer of the Pohangina County Council, dated 18 April 1903, after seven years of service in this role. Certificate features painted decorative elements and illustrations in watercolour, and calligraphy with gilt highlights and ornamentation. Illustrations incorporate tools and implements of the surveying profession. Lower portion features signatures of Chairman, Councillors, Ex-Chairman, Ex-Councillors, and the County Clerk. Description: Two certificates appointing Brian Mowlem Sinclair to the position of Honorary Consul of New Zealand to Brazil: - Certificate dated 14 December 1983 signed by Queen Elizabeth II. - Certificate dated 22 June 1989 signed by Sir Paul Reeves, Governor General of New Zealand. Title supplied by Library Brian Mowlem Sinclair was first nominated in 1982, and appointed to represent New Zealand as Honorary Consul-General in Brazil in 1983 and went on to serve in this role for 15 years, until the Embassy was established in Brasilia and a Consulate General in Sao Paulo.
