- Description
Scenes at a Ringatu celebration on a marae in Ruatoki North, Bay of Plenty, 1 January 1973. Eight negative frames feature people sitting beside the wharenui (meeting house), including a kuia with a moko kauwae, or on the steps in front of the wharenui. Three negative frames show two Maori children playing on the roof of a car.
Unless otherwise stated, all persons are unidentified. Photographs taken by Ans Westra.
Source of descriptive information - notes written by Westra, accompanying the corresponding proof sheet. Images are part of a series at AW-0719 to AW-0729, taken for 'Te Reo Rangatira', a Maori language second school text book by Timoti Karetu.
