- Description
Papers relating to World War II. Comprises a pen drawing and a typescript poem (both possibly by Desmond George Finlay).
The drawing shows a figure sitting on the ground leaning against a palm or coconut tree. He wears a conical hat, a short sleeved shirt, boots, and shorts or trousers. A long thin object, probably a rifle, lies next to him on the ground. Flying bugs are shown around his head and a day dream bubble shows a person in a steaming bath. The sun is shining brightly in the sky and mountains are visible in the background.
The typescript poem is titled 'The Island of Paradise' and refers to an unnamed Pacific Island in the year [19]43. One word of the poem has been censored.
