Melva Ann Sole (nee Gore) born Ngaruawhaia 1941. Gives family background and early memories of area. Recalls dating activities with husband, Ken, marriage and teaching until family began. Describes Ngahinepouri Women's Division [Federated Farmers]; Church with reference to APWW (Associated Presbyterian Women of the World; organisations, including, Plunket and Playcentre; recreation, which included golf, garden circle, pictures, parties and dances. Describes school activities which included Calf Club, flower show, school concerts and picnics. Discusses shopping facilities, roads and transport, local businesses and community services.
