Julie Anne (Jules) Hunt talks about her turbulent childhood, involvement in drugs, her time at Rata Street Primary School, with reference to playing rugby, Naenae College and Hutt Valley Activity Centre, Petone. Describes efforts at job hunting and her work for Write Price Supermarket and Carter Holt as a receptionist before going to live in Wanganui. Discusses birth of son, at the age of 18 years, attitudes of others towards a young mother and various types of accommodation. Refers to Income Support domestic purposes benefit cuts. Describes early contact with the Women's Centre, Lower Hutt and her involvement in facilitating a Women Parenting Alone group. Mentions gaining a certificate in Community Work.
