Alexander Fry was a journalist at the 'Listener' magazine from 1952-1991, and he describes first meeting Denis Glover when he was asked to edit a series of interviews on high-profile New Zealanders to boost publication. Describes being impressed by Glover's interview, which didn't need any editing.
Describes Glover's reaction to being dismissed by Harry Tombs of the Wingfield Press.
Describes Glover as a man of real warmth with wit, and a good friend to have. Talks about Glover being the self-appointed jester at many events. Describes his relationship with Khura Glover and compares this with his relationship with Lyn Glover. Talks about Glover's behaviour toward the Soviet Union's literary delegation.
