Johannes (John) Visser describes childhood in Netherlands, during the war and after, his first employment; decision to emigrate to New Zealand in 1955; work as a plumber and drainlayer, first for Fletcher Construction, then for himself; decision to enter the expanding restaurant industry in Christchurch and then expansion into catering and hotel keeping (Warners in Christchurch and Whalers in Picton); his vicissitudes in the economic collapse of the 80s and present life.
