Description

Two Europeans with seven Maori guides and bearers climbing a hill alongside the Waikato River. Hills and high banks opposite. A drawing of a caterpillar with a long ovipositor 'found in a piece of firewood' signed A S and dated Octr 14 1848. A young Maori woman, named as Mo Ke Ke. She is seated, wearing a tiki at her neck and a skirt on her lower half.
