Description

Photographs of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition at Kilbirnie, Wellington. Taken between 1939 and 1940 by Graham Edward Eglington.

Images include building exteriors, fountains, the sound shell, H.C. Harcourt's 'The Little Theatre', the Australian pavilion and the United Kingdom pavillion. Views of sculptures made by William Trethewey, including the plaster lions which sat at the entrance to the United Kingdom pavillion and also a sculpture depicting Kupe, his wife Hine-te-aparangi, and a tohunga, on the canoe Matahourua.

Includes some views of the exhibition illuminated at night.

Also includes views of the roller coaster and other amusement rides.
