Description

The body of a chief, lying on a bier, with a whare, a pataka and the palisades of a pa in the background. Seven Maori are seated outside the whare. A small dog sniffs around a cooking pot on the left. A crossed rifle, a taiaha and another weapon are at the head of the bier.
