Description: Photographs taken by unidentified photographers relating to New Zealand motorcycle designer, builder and racer Burt Munro, taken between circa 1967 and 1998. Most show him and/or his motorcycles, which included Velocettes and Indians. Black and white photographs show Burt Munro and different motorbikes in various locations, and include: the concrete block garage which was Munro's workshop and home for many years; images of motorbike engines and engine parts; Munro at various locations, some of him racing his Indian scout, some with bikes enclosed in aerodynamic casing; images from the event at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, where Munro set a world record on the `Munro Special'. Other images include Munro standing outside the premises of F Meenan & Company in Invercargill beside a motorbike; at dinner on board the `Oriana' when he was returning home from the US in 1967; another motorbike racer, Hec Orchard, receiving a trophy, circa 1980, at an event run by the Classic Motor Cycle Racing Register at Cust, Canterbury. Colour photographs taken in 1998 mostly show the `Munro Special' on display in an unnamed museum in Invercargill. Description: Photograph (by a photographer from the NZ Herald) shows Munro riding his bike - the `Munro Special' - at an unidentified location. It is signed on the front, possibly by Munro, dated 11/10/1969, and framed with an undated timing slip from the Bonneville National Speed Trials.
