Description

Photographs of the 1939-1940 New Zealand Centennial Exhibition held at Rongotai, Wellington. Chiefly exterior views of exhibition buildings (Australian Court, English Court, the Centennial Tower, and main exhibition building), but also emphasis on sculptures and water features. A number of images are taken at night and show lighting displays. Miscellaneous pictures include the 'Boomps-A-Daisy' photo booth, miniature train, broad view of entire complex, view from tower, and a crowd scene on the final day. Includes images taken by photographer Peter Beavis (for Wadestown company 'Developing, Printing, & Enlargements') and a souvenir shot from Leicagraph Studio. Other photographer(s) unidentified.
