Description: Unidentified rangatira (Maori chief), circa 1861, probably photographed in the the Taranaki, Waikato, or Auckland regions. He wears a suit, and ear adornments made of ribbon and (bone?). He has a moko kanohi (Maori facial tattoo). Photograph taken by John Nicol Crombie. Inscriptions: Album page - beneath image - Native chief.
