Photographs of unidentified snow covered landscapes; skiers and trampers in action or in groups, some outside tramping huts, or in amongst tent camps; photographs of Hamish Armstrong's crashed De Havilland Gipsy Moth plane taken on the 4th and 5th of August 1935

Hamish Armstrong set off to fly from Akitio to Hastings on 21 July 1935. He crashed in the Ruahine Ranges in an area known today as Armstrong Saddle. On Sunday 4th of August 1935 the wreckage of the plane was found by a group of trampers looking for a skiing ground. Hamish Armstrong's body was never found.
