Head and shoulders of artist Rita Angus, dressed in the shirt worn by her subject Betty Curnow in her portrait Betty Curnow, 1942 (original held by the Auckland City Art Gallery). Behind the subject is part of her painting Flight (held by the Museum of New Zealand)
The painting Flight showed the Bolton Street Cemetery in Wellington, during its destruction and replacement with the Wellington motorway, shortly before Rita Angus' death in 1970.
