Letters written by Nelson Hadfield to his parents, Jessie and Richard Hadfield, while on active service in World War II in the 5th NZ Field Ambulance, MEF, in which he comments on family matters and describes life in the army, the areas where they are stationed etc; copies of three photographs accompanying one letter of Aleppo, Damascus and one unidentified place. Also includes two letters written from Takaka by Nelson and Marcia, his wife, one of which announces the expected arrival of a baby later in the year.
