Description

Shows a man dancing in the centre, with a circular shield. At the right a woman kneels on the ground with her arms raised obliquely in a sweeping motion. At the left, a man and child watch.

Plate 120 in Domeny de Rienzi's book. French edition (1835-36), has same plate and has the additional information that Danvin was the copyist. Langlois engraved the French version, but the engraver of the Italian edition is not given (it may also have been Langlois).

Webber was an artist on Captain Cook's third voyage in to Hawaii in about 1779, and Arago was an artist on Freycinet's voyage, 1817-1820.
