- Description
Shows a scene in a laboratory at Te Papa. A scientist rings a fish and chip shop and orders an enormous amount of chips and tartare sauce. On the disecting table in front of him are the remains of the Colossal squid that a team of scientists have disected. In the background is a man with a newspaper that reports that 'scientists taste Colossal squid' and further along the table a group of scientists stand before places set for dinner and wait hungrily. Refers to the Colossal squid caught in the Ross Sea in the Antarctic and which was disected at Te Papa. It is called Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni and is larger than the Giant squid. The live squid was brought to the surface in February of 2007 by a New Zealand fishing boat.
