Description

Photographs of actors, musicians and entertainers who performed in New Zealand circa the 1870s to 1920s. Photographs (Nos. 496 and 497) are unidentified.

'House that Jack Built' a J.C. Williamson pantomime production performed in New Zealand in 1917. Script written by George Slater and Frank Dix, music by Victor Champion. Performers included New Zealanders and new artists from London theatres; produced by Chas. A Wenman. Performers include Hilda Guiver, Gretchen Yates, Constance Cayley, Harry Roxbury, Frederick Hearne, Ernest Langford and William Fullbrook. See photograph of the cast (individual performers not identified) in Theatrical Album 10 (PA1-q-242, No. 471).

'Rose of Riviera' musical comedy produced by George Stephenson's English Musical Comedy Company circa 1904-1905. See photographs in Theatrical Album 10 (PA1-q-242, Nos. 484 to 492).

'Strange adventures of Miss Brown' a comedy play produced in New Zealand in 1898 by the Thornton Comedy Company. See photograph of some of the cast in Theatrical Album 10 (PA1-q-242, No. 493).
