Description

Map of the Kaipara Harbour land area showing pioneering industries from 1860-1915, including timber and flax mills, gum, sheep, cattle, stock fattening, dairying, winemaking, bootmaking, honey, wheat, maize, lime, brickworks, pottery, flour, canning, saddlery, turkeys, oysters, fish, leadlight windows.

Shows Otamatea County Boundary, main settlements and features (approxiamtely 32) and Maori settlements (5). Three inserts list the major timber mills, the vegetation (light or heavy bush) and the major sources of income for the first half of the century (timber, gum, flax, sheep, stock fattening). Below map sources are listed.
