Lydia and dog Pogs, in the garden at Carlyle Street, Napier, circa 1888, photographed by William Williams.

Exhibited in 'Lydia' photographic exhibition held 17 July - 25 September in 1993, first floor foyer, National Library. Showed images of Lydia Myrtle Williams, wife of the photographer William Williams.

In 1887, shortly after their marriage, Lydia and William moved to Napier. They quickly began work on transforming the front garden of their Carlyle Street cottage into a vegetable and flower patch. Lydia and Pogs, the dog, pose amidst the beginnings of their labour. (Caption taken from the `Lydia' exhibition)
