Description

Shows Prime Minister, William Massey, sitting in a basket labelled 'Office' which is hanging from a rope with the words 'majority of three' on it that is tied around a tree labelled 'Public opinion'. The basket is dangling over a cliff. Two men with saws, one labelled 'Liberal' and the other 'Labour' are in the process of cutting the rope, thus dropping the Prime Minister in his basket into oblivion. Refers to the Reform government's precarious position after the 1922 election when it had to rely on the support of independents as the prosperity enjoyed by Massey's rural support began to wane.
