Description

Partial biography of Allen Curnow by Jeny Curnow. Most of this biography was dictated to Jeny Curnow by Allen Curnow in 1998-1999. The biography was incomplete when Allen Curnow died in 2001. The document begins with biographical details of Allen Curnow and his family. The next section is `The Gambling grandparent's story - `"Veiled in mystery"' which recounts the life of the Gambling family. This is followed by the sections `The Curnow grandparents', `The parents' and `The grandmother and the brothers'. There is a chronology of Allen Curnow's life for the period 1911-1950. Included in this work are refereneces to many of Curnow's friends including Douglas Lilburn and his marriage to his first wife Elizabeth (Betty) Le Cren.
