Description

Copy of drawing by a Maori chief of Ngapuhi (Te Morenga) of his own moko. Illustrated in: Nicholas, John Liddiard fl 1817. Narrative of a voyage to New Zealand ... London, 1817. Ellis no. 232. illustrated p.72. Ellis suggests that the engravings in the book may be the work of Samuel Neele, an antiquarian engraver of London. This could be his redrawing for publication from the original drawing by Te Morenga
