- Description
Handwritten programme with coloured drawings around the border. At top right a soldier stands under a palm tree and holds the "programme" towards to viewer; this makes his hand disproportionately large. At top left is a silhouette portrait of the ship in mid-ocean. Partly obscured behind the programme sheet" is a man in a pith helmet scurrying along with a bowl of "red 'ot!" [red hot] food, and at lower left a Maori in traditional costume performs a haka ("Komate! Komate!).
The programme lists the items of the variety show: Gramophone selections, Austin and Sgt Reynard, BWI on banjo and mandolin; a comic song by A/M Hawse, RFC; a recitation by Sgt Clarke, RE; hypnotism and mental telepathy by Lawson Durand, Loyal North Lancs; a song by B. S/M Graham, RFA; a recitation by A/M Barres RFC; a song by Sgt Grosse, BWI; a song by PO Eddis, RN; and a Maori war dance by the ANZACS mess
